Thornbury Community Garden is situated
on Upper Bath Road adjacent to Turnberrie`s Community Centre. Run by a small
and Independent Group of volunteers
the garden is open to the public 7. days a week . With it`s wide paths for
wheelchairs the garden is open to all groups. It has a Solar Powered Water
Feature, Mosaic Patio created by local school children, plus a hopscotch area,
Rocks and Fossils from Aust Cliffs plus two beautiful Walnut Trees and lots of
flowers, shrubs etc. The Committee are dedicated to a project of introducing
children into the environment and the joy`s of gardening. We support Christ The
King School Greenhouse Project and in conjunction with Thornbury and District
Flower Club the school have grown and planted three hanging baskets in the
Community Garden, we are also supporting their planting programme in the area
next to the Community Garden. Following improvements our aim is to attract Baby
Groups, Pre School and Infants Schools, for this reason we have positioned
Information Boards around the garden on Insects, Butterflys, Flowers that can
be observed within the garden, we are in the process of creating a booklet of
plants,birds and insects which can be seen and found in the garden by the children,
this booklet is free to all the above groups.
