Crossway`s Dairy.

Crossways Dairy is an independant dairy that we been operating in Thornbury for over 30.years (2001).

We took over the milk round from Vicarage Farm Dairy, and with very few changes, have been delivering milk in the Thornbury area since 1970. We like to think that we are an integral part of the community now, and many of our customers have become very good friends.

We deliver all the different kinds of milk: pasteurised, semi skimmed, skimmed and more recently organic milk. We can also now supply our milk in the plastic containers, 2.pint and 4.pint sizes. Do you realise though, that glass milk bottles are one of the orginal recyclable and reusable containers ?. We think this is very important for the future, and hope this is one of  the reasons customers still use the milkman for their daily supply of milk. Obviously supermarkets have hit us hard, but John still delivers the milk personally, and our customers are very loyal and appreciate his hard work and attention to detail. He also, obviously appreciates the cups of tea and coffee in the bad weather.

In addition to milk, we can also deliver to the doorstep: flavoured milk, free range eggs, fresh orange juice, water and local farm potatoes. We hope that this gives our customers a choice of fresh local products and makes it more convenient for them not having to carry home from the supermarket.

So with customer support, let`s hope that doorstep delivery will carry on into the future, we`ve lost so many home delivery products, we must ensure that milk is not also lost. We can only do that by offering a really good service, prompt delivery at the time the customer requires it, offering fresh goods, and keeping up to date with organic and flavoured milk and any new milk products that may be around the corner. For our older customers, John is their only contact and they look forward to his visit, and he also enjoys keeping them up to date with local news (of which he is a great source) if John doesn`t know, it isn`t happening.
