Walk 3 - Distance 4.35km (2.3/4 miles).
Starting from Castle Court Car Park, follow Walk 1 to The Pithay. At the top of the path, turn left down the farm road. A signpost indicates Oldbury 2. From the road there is a good view of the Castle and rock on which it is built. Near the lower corner of the Castle are some fine hornbeams.
The Mundy Stream reappears on the right of the road as you reach the first field. To the left, a number of exotic trees can be seen. They include Cedar of Lebanon and Wellingtonia. There are also a number of tall Limes around the Park - from their size they appear to have been planted at the same time in the 19th Century. One in the field to the right has large clumps of mistletoe. The line of trees on the left leads down to Conygre Covert, the name possibly implying a former rabbit warren.
At the end of the first field the stream turns sharp right and flows through two rather fine stone arches in a wall. There are several old oaks at this corner.
Continue straight on along the road through two gates. immediately after the second, turn right on a rough path through a gate with a narrow strip of woodland, crossing the stream. Cross the field, which can be very muddy, to a bridge over the Millstream. Turn right and follow the stream crossing two stiles. This section of the stream is narrow and fast flowing. Notice the teasels growing along the bank. Kingfishers frequent this stream and have been seen particularly between here and Victoria Close. The sharp-eyed may spot the tell-tale white droppings on the steep bank below a nest. These soft vertical banks are ideal for kingfishers nests. Close to the water level you may also see holes made by water voles.
In the next field the stream is much wider and shallower and easily fordable. The footpath continues along the left bank to an old stone bridge. Ahead are the mediaeval fish ponds. Cross the stile 100 metres from the bridge and turn left along the field edge to Victoria Close. Return to the car park by following Walk 2 in the reverse direction.
